Jennifer Scott Veterinarian

Dr. Jennifer Scott grew up in Indiana and moved to Minnesota in 2006 after meeting her husband Matt. She attended Purdue University. Dr. Jen resides in Zumbrota with her husband and children. They share their home with three German Shorthair Pointers, a Papillon, two cats and a guinea pig. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, camping, and spending time with her family. Dr. Jen's special interests include pet wellness, internal medicine and client education.

Alfred Pennyworth Staff Support Cat

Meet Alfred, BDAH’s support cat, he has been supporting our staff since fall 2023. You may find Alfie dressed in a very formal black and white tuxedo as that is his favorite daily attire. He is very diligent about watching the staff closely and making sure everyone is on task. Some of Alfie’s skills include, but are not limited to: napping on top of the cabinets, laying in the sunshine, searching out scraps of food, rolling in catnip, pacing in front of the computer while employees are trying to type, and secretly judging the staff from his podium ( the fridge). Dislikes include: forced snuggles, canned air and other loud noises.

Chris Boyle Veterinarian

Dr. Boyle grew up on a dairy farm in central Minnesota. She attended the University of Wisconsin at River Falls and received her DVM degree from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Boyle resides in Hager City, WI with her husband, Matt, and their three children. They share their home with a German Wirehaired Pointer named Finn and a cat named Betsy. Outside of work, Dr. Boyle enjoys running, cooking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Boyle's special veterinary interests include surgery, dentistry, dermatology and client education.

Emmy Hartman Veterinarian

Dr. Emmy Hartman was born and raised in Red Wing and is very excited to be back in her hometown. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced small animal medicine in the Twin Cities, Metro area for 11 years. Dr. Emmy joined Black Dog Animal Hospital the fall of 2019. Dr. Emmy's special interests include geriatric care, wellness, and client education. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters and cuddling their beloved companions, a spoiled mixed breed rescue pup and an entitled, dramatic cat who prefers to remain anonymous.

Nicole Brown Veterinarian

Dr. Nicole Brown attended the University of Minnesota for her BS and DVM degrees and graduated in 2021. She lives with her husband Josh, two labradors (Opie and Otis) and two cats (Stanley and Oscar). In her spare time she enjoys hiking, skiing, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Brown’s special interests include preventative medicine and dermatology.

Cheryl Office Manager

Cheryl grew up in Red Wing and brings over 40 years of veterinary experience to BDAH. She graduated from the University of Minnesota-Waseca’s veterinary technician program in 1980 and has worked in Red Wing clinics her entire career. Her duties over the years have expanded to office management, but it is the pets and interactions with their owners that continue to make her work days enjoyable. She and her husband, Dave, raised 2 daughters and many pets through the years. She enjoys skiing, biking and hiking with her Doberman, Gilly.

Jamie Customer Service Representative and Certified Veterinary Technician

Jamie grew up in Indiana and moved to Red Wing in 1999 where her love for animals and helping people since an early age lead her to pursuing her Veterinary Technician degree from the Minnesota School of Business. Jamie brings a great deal of knowledge and skills to the hospital. She has worked in the Veterinary Field since 2003, including 6 years of Emergency Medicine. Jamie has a Yorkshire Terrier named Mack and a cat named Oliver. In her free time she enjoys cooking, gardening, being outdoors, camping, canoeing and spending time with family and friends.

Brianna Customer Service Representative

Brianna has lived in Red Wing all her life. Always surrounded by animals and playing with all kinds of animal figurines as a child, as well as watching nature documentaries and animal TV series. She has always had a passion for animals and loves to see the bond between owners and their fur babies. Brianna has three cats ; Sassy, Autumn, and Isabella. She enjoys spending time with her husband Jason, family, and friends; Brianna's favorite activities include walking/time outdoors, watching Disney/cartoons and playing with her kitty cats.

Amanda Certified Veterinary Technician

Amanda recently graduated from Argosy Univeristy as a certified veterinary technician after spending 3 years at the Univeristy of Wisconsin-River Falls studying Animal Science. She enjoys interacting with clients and their furry friends and learning something new about veterinary medicine every day. Amanda just recently moved to Red Wing where she shares her home with 2 dogs (a Golden Retriever mix named Bae and a Chocolate Lab named Milah, 2 cats (Willow and Ziggy), and two goldfish (Swimmy and Brock).

Aliza Certified Veterinary Technician

Aliza grew up in Red Wing spending the majority of her time on her grandparents' hobby farm. She has always had a passion for all small and large animals since she was a young girl. Aliza lives in the country with her fiancé Nate, 4 children, 2 dogs Gertrude and Roxy, 3 indoor cats, and 4 goats. She enjoys watching her children participate in their many activities, bass fishing with Nate, warm winter vacations, and spending time outdoors when she can. After exploring different occupations and staying home to raise her children, Aliza decided to return to her passion for animal care. She attended and graduated from RCTC with an AAS degree in veterinary technology in 2020 and shortly after became certified in her degree. She joined the Black Dog family in the spring of 2020 and enjoys giving quality nursing care, client education, and touching all the animal noses she can during the day!

Alyssa Certified Veterinary Technician

Alyssa grew up on a Dairy farm outside of Goodhue MN. Her love of animals first started by being around all the animals on the farm. She graduated from RCTC with an AAS in Veterinary Technology in May 2022. In her spare time she enjoys waterskiing, spending time with her sisters, riding 4-wheeler, and fishing.

Laura Veterinary Technician

Laura grew up in Princeton Minnesota. Growing up she had multiple cats and dogs. She even rescued a litter of kittens and found them all loving homes. She graduated from Argosy University in 2017 as a Veterinary Technician. She then moved to Lake City, MN and met her now husband, Nathan. Her little family with Nathan consists of their dogs (Walter and Wendall), and their two cats (Darius and Herman). In her free time she loves to be outside in the sun letting the dogs have pool time and kitties have outside time in their tent!

Gina Veterinary Technician

Gina joined the Vet med field in 2006 and joined the Black Dog Animal Hospital team during the summer of 2019. She currently lives in her country home along with her husband, 3 daughters (16, 7, and 6 years old), a Shihtzu (Wynn), a Golden Retriever (Diggs), 2 Guinea pigs (Pinkie&Tillie), and an outdoor Cat (Oscar). As a technician, Gina brings a great deal of hands-on experience to our clinic and is very passionate about her work. She thrives in the fast pace environment and enjoys giving quality client education along with safe handling techniques customized for each individual pet. Outside of work Gina enjoys grooming & obedience training with her dogs and spending time in the sunshine with her family.

Kayla Veterinary Technician

Kayla's love for animals sparks from growing up on a small hobby farm near Zumbrota, MN. As she grew older she began her own herd of Red Angus and participated in 4-H and FFA regularly. She now resides on her Husband's family dairy farm where her love for animals and agriculture grows every day. In her spare time, she enjoys racing autocross, photography, kayaking and spending time with her family, friends and her dogs Bentley & Blueberry.

Heidi Veterinary Technician

Heidi recently joined our team in April 2121, She has been in the Veterinary field for 16 years. She started as a Vet assistant while going to school and Graduated from Argosy University 2007 where she earned her Veterinary Technician Degree. Her love for animals started out strong and fierce as a young child on her Grandparents farm in Iowa. Heidi enjoys all Critters. Her favorite part of vet med is Nursing hospitalized patients, Bloodwork and Parasitology. She lives in Randolph, MN with her Husband 2.5 year old son. She has a French bulldog mix named Ollie, Yellow lab named Gus and 2 cats Waylon and Loretta Lynn.

Ashley Veterinary Technician

Ashley grew up in Hampton, Minnesota and has had a love for animals all her life. From a small age, she always knew she wanted to work in a veterinary clinic and is happy to be living that dream today! She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls with an animal science degree and is currently in school hoping to become a CVT in the near future! In her free time, she enjoys demolition derbies and county fairs, hanging with family and friends, as well as cuddling her kitty!

Sam Veterinary Technician

Sam grew up in the country outside of Red Wing. She received her Associates degree in the Applied Science of Veterinary Technology from the Minnesota School of Business in 2011. Phlebotomy, surgery, and puppy butt wiggles are some of her favorite things at work. Sam lives in Lake City with her fiance and their three kiddos. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, doing anything outdoors, but is just as happy with snuggling up and binge watching shows. Although they don't currently have any pets, they hope to find the perfect addition soon!

Nikki Veterinary Technician

Nikki grew up in Oronoco, MN where she had many pets, neighbors who had a donkey, and family members with horses and animals of all kinds. Nikki graduated from RCTC with an AAS degree in veterinary technology in May of 2024- she hopes to be a CVT very soon! She currently lives in Rochester with her fur babies, 3 cats: Buster, Oliver, and Walter, and her recent addition Blossom the Frenchie. She also works at a nursing home as a secretary, she brings Blossom with which always puts a smile on her elderly residents’ faces. In her downtime she loves reading, going for hikes, being on the lake, spending time with family and friends, and fulfilling her latest sweet-tooth craving. Nikki has always had a strong appreciation for animals and although she has 4 of her own–she still has lots of love to give to fluffy family members who walk in the door and will often say she wants to take them home. She will probably be found wearing crocs and drinking her massive amounts of caffeine to ensure she stays awake for happy tail wags and sassy cats.
